More than scores and headlines, it’s time for a fresh, local approach to sports that’s fun, informative and insightful.  It’s time for Speaking of Sports with Dad and Joey! Every Sunday at 3pm, this father-son team brings you the latest on the world of sports at the national and college level, and also what is happening here in Austin and central Texas…even right here in your neighborhood.  You’ll hear from a wide variety of athletes, coaches and officials in the world of sports, particularly those with a living faith in Jesus Christ (like baseball star, Josh Hamilton, who appeared on the show in May).

Speaking of Sports will take you behind the headlines to hear how sports and life intersect with faith in Jesus Christ. Howard Cosell once said, “Sport is human life in microcosm.” On Speaking of Sports, Dad and Joey take that one step further, examining sports at all levels through the lens of a Christian worldview.

About Dad: “Dad” is Robert M. Phillips, a Georgetown criminal defense attorney, husband and father of five, who is an ordained elder at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Austin. Bob has raised his family in this area for the past twenty-five years, and all his children have attended Regents School of Austin, two of whom are now married and parents themselves.  His secret fantasy is no big secret: to someday be a baseball play by play broadcaster.

About Joey: Joey is Joey Phillips, 15, the youngest of the Phillips children, who has wanted to be a broadcaster since he was old enough to talk. He grew up at the Ballpark in Arlington, which is home to the Texas Rangers and the “second home” to the Phillips family (or at least it feels like it!). Joey is a sophmore at Regents, strongly opinionated on all things sports-related, and not afraid to argue with Dad when it comes to sports
.

Tune in Sundays at 3:00pm.
